Cookie Policy

Every cookie and browser storage item we use, and how to control them.

This cookie policy explains how Shujaz.com uses cookies, browser storage and similar technologies when you visit our AI tools directory and AI prompts library. It tells you what each cookie does, how long it lasts and how you can control it. We want this cookie policy to be clear enough that you never have to guess what is stored on your device.

Cookie policy – Every cookie and browser storage item we use, and how to control them.

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Shujaz.com is owned and operated by Shujaz, an individual web developer, social media consultant and AI consultant based in Kerala, India. In this cookie policy, “Shujaz.com”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the site and its operator.

The site lists 900+ AI tools across 30 categories and 1,400+ free AI prompts. This cookie policy applies to every page of Shujaz.com. That includes the AI tools directory, the AI prompts library, tool review pages and blog posts. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.

If this cookie policy and the Privacy Policy ever seem to differ on a cookie detail, the more specific cookie policy wording applies to cookies. For everything else, the Privacy Policy applies. Our aim is simple: no hidden storage and no surprises.

Our site runs on self-hosted WordPress. We use Google Site Kit to connect Google Analytics and Google Search Console. We also use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads. Each of these can set cookies, and this cookie policy covers them all.

What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site remember things about your visit. For example, a cookie can remember your chosen layout, so you do not have to pick it again.

First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are set by Shujaz.com itself. Third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as Google, when its service runs on our pages. Our cookie policy lists both kinds.

Session and persistent cookies

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set time, such as one year, or until you delete them.

localStorage

localStorage is another way a browser can save data. It works like a cookie, but the data is never sent to our server with each request. It stays on your device until you clear it. We use localStorage for a few simple settings, and we treat it the same way as cookies in this cookie policy.

Types of cookies by purpose

  • Strictly necessary: needed for a feature you asked for, such as saving your rating.
  • Preference: remember your choices, such as dark mode or grid view.
  • Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the site.
  • Advertising: help serve and measure ads, and may be used to personalise them.

Why We Use Cookies on Shujaz.com

We try to use as few cookies as possible. Each one in this cookie policy has a clear job. Broadly, cookies help us in four ways.

  • Making features work: star ratings need to know if you already voted on a tool.
  • Remembering your choices: your grid or list view and light or dark theme stay the same on every page.
  • Improving the site: analytics show which tools and prompts people find useful, and which pages need better information.
  • Keeping the site free: advertising cookies help Google show and measure ads, which pay for hosting and updates.

We do not use cookies to find out your name, read your email or follow you around the web ourselves. Any cross-site ad tracking is done by Google and its partners under their own policies, as described later in this cookie policy.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell cookie data or personal information.
  • We do not use cookies to make automated decisions about you.
  • We do not require an account or login to use the directory or prompts.
  • We do not store your favourites or search history on our server through cookies.

First-Party Cookies and Storage Keys We Use

Here is every first-party cookie and localStorage key that Shujaz.com sets. None of them contain your name or email address. If we ever add a new one, we will list it in this cookie policy.

Name Kind Purpose Duration Type
sz_view Cookie Remembers whether you prefer grid view or list view in the tools directory 1 year Preference
sz_rated_{id} Cookie Records that you already rated a specific tool, so you cannot vote twice ({id} is the tool’s number) 1 year Strictly necessary for the rating feature
shujaz-theme localStorage Remembers light mode or dark mode Until you clear browser storage Preference
sz-favs localStorage Stores the tools you saved as favourites, only in your browser Until you clear browser storage Preference
sz-rated localStorage Remembers which tools you have rated, so the stars show your vote Until you clear browser storage Strictly necessary for the rating feature

This cookie policy treats favourites as private to you. Your favourites list never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and it is not linked to you in any way. If you clear your browser storage, your favourites will be lost.

A note on rating checks

When you rate a tool, we also store a temporary hashed version of your IP address on our server for 7 days. This is not a cookie. It is a short-term check that stops duplicate votes. After 7 days, it is deleted.

WordPress Cookies

Because the site runs on WordPress, some standard WordPress cookies may be set in certain cases.

  • Comment cookies (comment_author_{hash}, comment_author_email_{hash}, comment_author_url_{hash}): if comments are open and you choose to save your details, WordPress remembers your name, email and website for your next comment. These last about one year.
  • wp-settings and wordpress_test_cookie: used only when someone logs in to the WordPress dashboard. Normal visitors do not log in, so they will not usually receive these.
  • wordpress_logged_in and wordpress_sec: admin login cookies for the site owner only.

If you never leave a comment, you will not receive the comment cookies. This cookie policy will be updated if we add any new WordPress feature that sets cookies for visitors.

Google Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics, through the Google Site Kit plugin, to see which pages people visit and how they find us. This helps us improve tool listings, fix weak pages and plan new prompts.

Name Provider Purpose Duration Type
_ga Google Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a random ID 2 years Analytics
_ga_* Google Keeps the session state for our Google Analytics property (the * is our property ID) 2 years Analytics

Google Analytics shows us totals and trends. It does not tell us who you are, and this cookie policy does not allow us to use it to identify you. Google Search Console, which we also use, relies on search data Google already has. It does not set extra cookies through our site.

You can block Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense and Advertising Cookies

Shujaz.com uses, or may use, Google AdSense to display ads. Ads help keep the directory and prompts library free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick (DART) cookie, lets Google and its partners show ads based on your visits to our site and other sites. Common Google advertising cookies include:

Name Provider General purpose Typical duration
__gads Google Measures ad interactions and helps limit how often you see the same ad Up to about 13 months
__gpi Google Collects information on ad views and interactions for publisher sites Up to about 13 months
IDE Google (doubleclick.net) Used to show and measure ads, and to personalise them where allowed Up to about 13 months
test_cookie Google (doubleclick.net) Checks whether your browser accepts cookies About 15 minutes
NID Google Stores preferences and may be used for ad personalisation on Google services About 6 months

Google controls these cookies, and their names and durations can change. For the most accurate details, see how Google uses cookies. You can also read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Other third parties

Tool screenshots and previews on Shujaz.com are generated automatically by the WordPress.com mShots service. Tool logos are the icons each tool publishes on its own website. Loading these images may share basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, with the server that hosts them, as with any image on the web. We do not use these services to set tracking cookies.

Affiliate link cookies

Some tool links on Shujaz.com may be affiliate links. When you click one, the tool’s website may set its own cookie to credit us for the referral. Those cookies are controlled by the tool provider, not by us. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how affiliate links work.

The legal rules for cookies differ by region. This cookie policy follows a simple approach.

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: when ads are shown, we ask for your consent through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP). Non-essential cookies, such as advertising cookies, are only used in line with your choice.
  • India: we process personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • California: some ad cookies may count as “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information. You can send a “Do Not Sell or Share” request by email.

Under this cookie policy, strictly necessary and preference storage, such as your rating record or dark mode, only exists because you used that feature. You can remove it at any time.

What happens if you refuse cookies

If you refuse advertising cookies, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised or limited. If you refuse analytics cookies, the site still works normally. We simply get less data to improve it. Refusing cookies never blocks you from reading tool reviews or copying prompts.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw your consent whenever you like. Use the consent settings link on the site when it is shown, or clear your cookies and reload the page to see the consent choices again.

How to Control and Delete Cookies in Your Browser

Every modern browser lets you view, block and delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may break some features. For example, your view choice and ratings will not be remembered. Here is how to manage cookies in the most popular browsers.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu.
  2. Go to Settings, then Privacy and security.
  3. Choose Third-party cookies to block them, or Delete browsing data to clear cookies.
  4. To remove data for one site only, open Site settings, then View permissions and data stored across sites.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the menu and choose Settings.
  2. Select Privacy & Security.
  3. Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, choose Standard, Strict or Custom.
  4. Under Cookies and Site Data, click Clear Data or Manage Data.

Apple Safari

  1. On Mac, open Safari, then Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Go to the Privacy tab.
  3. Turn on Prevent cross-site tracking, or click Manage Website Data to remove cookies.
  4. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then Safari, then Clear History and Website Data.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge and click the three-dot menu.
  2. Go to Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
  3. Select Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  4. Use Privacy, search, and services to clear browsing data.

Mobile browsers

On Android, open Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then Settings, Privacy and security, and Delete browsing data. Other mobile browsers such as Samsung Internet and Firefox for Android have similar options under Settings. The steps in this cookie policy may vary slightly between browser versions. If a menu name has changed, check your browser’s help pages.

Clearing localStorage

Clearing “cookies and site data” in any of these browsers also removes localStorage keys like shujaz-theme, sz-favs and sz-rated. Remember that this deletes your saved favourites too.

Besides browser settings, you can use these official tools to limit ad tracking:

Opting out does not stop all ads, and no cookie policy can promise that it will. You will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to your interests. If you clear your cookies, you may need to opt out again.

Do Not Track and Other Signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it. At present, Shujaz.com does not change its behaviour based on DNT. You can still use the browser settings and opt-out links in this cookie policy to control tracking.

We may update this cookie policy when we add features, change tools or when the law changes. Google may also rename or change its own cookies. When we update this cookie policy, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If the change is important, we will add a clear notice on the site.

Older versions of this cookie policy are replaced by the current one on the date shown. You may also want to read our Terms and Conditions, our Disclaimer and our About Us page to learn more about how the site works.

Frequently Asked Questions about Our Cookie Policy

Does Shujaz.com work without cookies?

Yes. You can browse tools and copy prompts with cookies blocked. However, your view choice, theme and ratings will not be remembered between visits.

Are my favourite tools sent to your server?

No. Favourites are stored in the “sz-favs” localStorage key on your own device. As this cookie policy explains, we never see or collect that list.

Why do I see ads that match my interests?

Google and its partners may use cookies to personalise ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn this off in Google Ads Settings.

Does this cookie policy cover affiliate links?

Partly. This cookie policy explains that tool websites may set referral cookies when you click an affiliate link. Those cookies follow the tool provider’s own cookie policy, not ours.
